3D perception Expands Offering of Auto-Calibrating
Smart Screens for Simulators, CompactClick
Orlando, FL - December 3, 2009. 3D perception, A.S. (“3DP”), today announced the addition of three new configurations of their patented CompactClick™ immersive smart screen for the simulation industry. Based on the success of their 3.25-meter radius spherical screen over the last several years, and in response to market demand, the company has developed two smaller spherical screens of 2.0 meter and 2.5 meter radii, as well as a cylindrical screen with a radius of 5 meters. CompactClick screens have embedded sensors for image capture, and in concert with 3DP’s CompactUTM™ image processor, automatically create accurate geometry correction, edge blending, and color matching across multiple projectors. The result is a contiguous, seamless image spanned across the immersive screen.
CompactClick screens are modularly segmented and can be configured to any horizontal and vertical field of view, up to and including full dome configurations.
“3D perception’s automatic calibrating displays are widely recognized as the most accurate and efficient for professional simulation,” said Knut Krogstad, CEO of 3D perception. “CompactClick has now been used in many installations since its introduction, and with that market recognition we chose to increase the spherical screen offerings to address smaller footprint simulators. The cylindrical screen being offered is intended to address lower cost solutions, as well as applications including air traffic control, driving simulators, and ship’s bridge simulation.”
With these new configurations, the company expects to address previously unmet needs of the ever-evolving simulation training market. Factors such as newer projection technology allowing for shorter image throw distances have allowed once large training systems to downsize, increasing the demand for smaller CompactClick models.
CompactClick’s embedded sensor grid replaces the need for any external measurement equipment, making maintenance procedures extremely fast and easy. CompactClick sensor technology is also available as a stand-alone product, installable on existing screens for upgrade applications.
The company unveiled the new CompactClick offerings and demonstrated their complete solution for automatically calibrated simulation displays at I/ITSEC 2009, one of the simulation industry’s largest conferences, held yearly in Orlando, Florida.
