3D perception Launches Northstar nBox™
Next-Generation Simulation Image Processor

Asker, Norway – May 18, 2010. 3D perception, A.S. (“3DP or the “Company”), today announced the launch of Northstar nBox™, a next-generation simulation display processor, evolved from their widely fielded, CompactUTM™. With its Intelligent EDID technology, Northstar nBox is a plug-and-play, zero frame latency controller that scales, warps, blends and color corrects content, outputs to multiple projectors and seamlessly displays imagery across all screen shapes. Northstar nBox speeds up the process of setting up a projection system, since the requirement for precise mechanical alignment is drastically reduced. Pre-projector adjustment provides much freedom in selecting projector/screen geometry.

Northstar nBox represents the evolution of the technology currently supporting nearly 8,000 visual channels in the simulation marketplace, and marks the shift to a completely hardware-based appliance. To the user, that means enhanced reliability and ease of use with its projector auto-detecting, Intelligent EDID technology. Other new features include support for projector resolutions of up to WQXGA and 4K, direct projector control, zero frame latency, redundant power supplies for high reliability, and a new 2U form factor. All features from CompactUTM™ have been ported to Northstar nBox, and include:

• Hotspot compensation
• Test pattern generation
• Input signal analysis
• Combine analog & digital ins & outs
• Central control
• Active & passive stereo (3D) projection
  

Northstar nBox is central to 3D perception’s new Northstar simulation display solution, which also includes:

Northstar Aurora™: Modular, instrumented smart screens available in spherical and cylindrical configurations for any size requirements. Aurora is key to Northstar’s automatic geometry, edge blending and color alignment.

Northstar Console™: A graphical user interface for system control, maintenance and adjustment, it allows users to approach the display as an integrated system, not as discrete components.

Simulation Certified Projectors™: Projectors subjected to a rigorous process to ensure compliance for quality, stability, reliability, ruggedness, needed feature set, and technical metrics for simulation-grade image accuracy and control.
